When we started planning newborn photos for our third baby, I kept coming back to one thought: I want these to feel like us.
Not overly styled. Not somewhere unfamiliar. Just the quiet, meaningful beauty of home — the place where our days actually unfold. So we chose our guest bedroom, and with a few thoughtful updates, it became the perfect backdrop to capture this new chapter in our family story.
A Fresh Take on a Familiar Space
I wanted the room to feel soft, warm, and welcoming — a reflection of the season we’re in as a family. A few simple changes made all the difference:
Bedding: A green quilt to bring in a calming, natural tone
Artwork: Capturing our landscape in a gold frame to add warmth and a bit of timeless character
Greenery: Including a tall tree and a Christmas cactus, to give the room life
Varying heights: Throughout the space to make everything feel balanced and visually interesting
These small details helped the room feel styled but still lived-in — elevated, but not fussy. Exactly the feeling I wanted when looking back on these photos years from now.
Centered Around the Acadia Canopy Bed
Of course, the heart of the room — and these photos — is the Acadia Canopy Bed.
There’s something so grounding about a canopy bed. The clean lines frame the space beautifully without overwhelming it, and it naturally draws everyone in close. It created the sweetest setting for all five of us to pile in together — big siblings proud, parents a little tired but very full-hearted, and our tiny newborn right in the middle of it all.
It’s more than just a piece of furniture in these photos. It’s part of the story. The place where siblings climbed in to meet the baby, where we sat close together soaking in those first days, where life already feels different in the best way.
Photos That Become Part of Family History
Welcoming our third baby is such a special milestone for our family. Life feels fuller, louder, and somehow even sweeter. These photos aren’t just for an announcement or a holiday card — they’re the kind that will live in frames on our walls and in albums our kids flip through someday.
And that’s why taking them in our own space mattered so much. Years from now, we won’t just see what we looked like — we’ll remember what this chapter felt like.
