I've been thinking a lot about how fast the holidays seem to fly by. You know me, I love a good to-do list, but sometimes it feels like we’re so busy doing Christmas that we forget to feel it. I just wanted to share a few little things I’ve been trying to really savor the season—it’s nothing fancy, but maybe one or two will resonate with you.
1. Schedule Nothing Time
I know, it sounds strange to schedule time to do nothing, but hear me out. I block off an evening, light some candles, turn on the tree lights, and just sit. Sometimes I read a book, or journal, but most of the time I just let myself be still. It’s a little gift of quiet in the middle of the chaos.
2. Pick One Thing and Do It Fully
Instead of saying yes to every cookie exchange, party, or event, I’ve started choosing just one or two things that really bring me joy. Then, I let myself go all in on them. I don’t know about you, but when I stretch myself too thin, nothing feels special.
3. Make Everyday Moments Festive
This one’s my favorite. I put on Christmas music while folding laundry, sip cocoa during the kids’ bedtime story, or throw some cinnamon sticks in a pot of simmering water while I’m tidying up. It’s amazing how little things like that can make a regular Tuesday feel magical.
4. Practice “Good Enough”
Not every gift has to be Pinterest-perfect, and not every tradition has to be done exactly as it’s always been. Giving myself permission to simplify has been a game-changer. The best memories come from laughing together, not stressing over the perfect tablescape.
I hope these little ideas help you find a few extra moments of peace and joy this season. And if you ever want to swap stories or just vent about holiday craziness, you know where to find me.
Sending you all the cozy vibes,
