At Purveyor 15, every bed tells a story — a story of craftsmanship, patience, and timeless design. Our Shenandoah Bed, known for its signature picket fence railings and warm farmhouse feel, begins as raw lumber and transforms into a piece that brings charm and comfort to any home.

Here’s how we bring this handcrafted bed to life, step by step.
Step 1: Cutting Down to Size
Every Shenandoah Bed starts with solid wood boards carefully chosen for quality and grain. We begin by cutting each board down to a more manageable size — the first step in turning rough lumber into something beautiful.
Step 2: The Perfect Fit
Next, each board is ripped into 3-inch-wide pieces. These narrow strips will become the individual pickets that give the Shenandoah Bed its signature look — a nod to classic picket fences and cozy farmhouse style.
Step 3: Smooth Edges
We then run the boards on their edge through a planer. This removes saw marks and ensures a perfectly smooth, even edge, preparing each piece for assembly and finishing.
Step 4: Cutting Each Picket
Every picket is precisely cut to 15 inches long — ensuring consistency and a perfect fit when the railings come together on the Shenandoah Bed.

Step 5: Shaping the Picket Tops
This is where the Shenandoah Bed gets its character. Each piece is cut at a 45-degree angle at the top, forming the distinct picket fence shape that makes this bed so special.
Step 6: Routing for Rounded Edges
After shaping, we route every edge to round off sharp corners. This step gives each picket a smooth, polished look and ensures it’s safe for little hands — ideal for kids’ rooms.
